Paddle the High Coast with a guide - Summer 2026

Do you long to kayak to some of the absolute highlights of the High Coast, but dont feel experienced enough to head out by yourself/yourselves? Come paddle in good company with us!

In the Summer of 2026 we will offer guided day-tours, and some over-night tours.

A few examples of kayak tours:

  • The High Coast bridge – paddle under the bridge, and see the enormous pylons (the ”legs”) close-up
  • ”Under the Bridges” – paddling under the High Coast bridge, but also the beautiful elder valve bridge Sandö bridge, and the adjacent Svanö bridge
  • The Norafjärden Bay – a delightfully beautiful bay that is also protected from most waves and winds
  • Storön (Great Island)- the forgotten gem of the High Coast (used to be closed off as a military protection area)
  • Högbonden – the dramatic lighthouse island – one day tour 22 July 2026
  • Norrfjärden Bay – below and with a good view of Skuleberget Mountain
  • Balesudden Point, with a walk up to the crystal clear Balestjärnen tarn
  • Trysunda – ”the most beautiful island in Sweden” – 14 – 16 July 2026

The first few are day tours going from our pier at Ramöviken; Trysunda will be with transport by car and trailer, and overnight camping on the island. The reamining tours are day tour, where we go by car to an optimal starting point.

Your guide will share fascinating facts about the High Coast, its unique history and geology and its significance as a World Heritage. You will also have a chance to learn of the marine life in and by these waters, and gain some understanding for the fragility and beauty of the ecosystem.

Kayaking with us - general information

Preconditions:

The High Coast is partly quite exposed. The challenges are mainly the wind, and the waves that can build up from the wind. It is virtually impossible to beforehand promise a certain tour/route can be paddled some certain dates in the future, since the weather is not predictable.

To make it possible for not only the very experienced sea kayaker to paddle the High Coast, we now try out a new concept. We provide experienced guides, familiar with the conditions of the High Coast, and we receive the right for the guides to adapt both the tour area/goal, and the route while out, to the weather and the capacity of the group members.

Our first priority is safety – someone may capsize, but there should not be any hazard for life or limb. We do our best to give each group an optimal experience the given dates, BUT both the goal and the route can be another than what is preliminary advertised below. This means that YOU may feel that you could paddle a more challenging way, but we have the responsibility for the whole group. Your willingness to adhere to these rules is a precondition for tour kayaking with us. – This said, we are out to ENJOY! 🙂

We provide:

  • kayak with life jacket, paddle and spray deck (the guided tour 14 – 16 July, see below, is priced exclusive kayak; you may bring your own if you have)
  • where needed, land transport for kayaks, gear and paddlers
  • guiding and security
  • if needed, parking space for your car at our premises

You bring:

  • your own food, drink, snacks
  • your own outdoor gear such as tent, sleeping bag, camping stove (these items can be rented from us)
  • suitable clothing
  • some kayaking experience (more precise definition will follow for each tour)
  • ability to swim 400 m

Here in the next section you can find more details on the kayak tours tour we offer (these are currently being updated). If you wish to go on a guided tour on a different date than those we are offering you are always welcome to place a request by email to info@hogakustenkajak.se.

Day 3

Högbonden, Day Tour, July 22

Högbonden is a rocky island with a lighthouse and one of the most iconic landmarks in the High Coast. The island can sometimes be difficult to land on, but when conditions allow, the steep walk up to the lighthouse is well worth it. There, you can also stop for coffee and refreshments.

During 2026, we will organize one or more day trips to or around Högbonden, with the first departure planned for July 22.
